Lok Sabha Elections 2009, Complete Schedule

Election Commission of India has announced the dates of General Election 2009. With the announcement the political climate has started getting hot and hotter. The elections will be held in five phases starting from April 16 to May 13.

Counting of the votes will start on May 16 and the election process will be completed by May 28. Before June 02, 2009, the 15th Lok Sabha will constituted.

The complete schedule of the elections is given below :

First Phase (April 16) (124 Seats) - Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Andaman and Nicobar Island, Lakshadweep.

Second Phase (April 23) (141 Seats) - Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Goa, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Orissa, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. Manipur (April 22)

Third Phase (April 30) (107 Seats) - Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Sikkim, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

Fourth Phase (May 7) (85 Seats) - Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Delhi.

Fifth Phase (May 13) (86 Seats) - Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh,Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Chandigargh and Puducherry.

Jammu and Kashmir and Uttar Pradesh will have elections in five phases while Bihar will see elections in four phases. There will be three phases of elections for Maharashtra and West Bengal. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Orissa and Punjab will be having two phases elections and all the remaining 15 States and 7 Union Territories will see elections in one phase.

Madhya Pradesh State Employees To Get Salary Hike As Govt. Implements 6th PC Recommendations

The state government employees have a reason to rejoice as Madhya Pradesh government has announced to implement the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission.

The implementation will benefit around five lakh state government employees. Around three lakh pensioners will also benefit and also there will be a proportionate increase in salaries of government school teachers and panchayat secretaries from April 1, 2009.

The recommendation of the 6th PC will be effective from January 1, 2006. The benefits applicable from September 1, 2008, to February 28, 2009, will be paid along with the salary payable on coming April 1. While the mode of payment for arrears from January 1, 2006 to August 31, 2008, will be decided by the government at a later date.

There is a good news for state government employees of Chhattisgarh as the government has announced the implementation of the 6th pay commission recommedations. Last year, the central government announced the acceptance of new salary structure and since then the employees have been eagerly awaiting for this moment.

During the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections which in December 2008, BJP had already promised to pass the 6th PC.

The recommendations of the sixth pay commission will be effective from January 2006 and nearly 2 lakh state government employees will get the decent salary hike of around 35%. The arrears for the period from January 2006 to August 2008 would be paid in the next three years and the cash payment of the sixth pay commission scale will be made from September 2008 to the employees.

Even as the dates of T20 matches draw nearer, there seems to be no unanimity over IPL schedule. The main issue is that of security and most of the states have shown their inability to provide enough security for the mega event at the time when Lok Sabha Elections will be in their full swing. If you leave New Delhi, almost all the states have demanded central forces for IPL security.

The organisers of the tournament are likely to meet with top officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs today ( March 16, 2009). The first revised schedule was submitted by the IPL on March 7 but it failed to convince state governments. Later, Ministry of Home Affairs told told IPL organisers that it may not be feasible to hold the matches as per the revised schedule they had submitted. The IPL was further told to draw the fresh schedule taking in account the security concerns of state governments.

So, as of now, the deadlock over IPL continues. The final decision would be taken by the home minister.

Ruby Dhalla, a young Indian Canadian MP, has been caught in a controversy due to her alleged appearance in some hot scenes of a movie. Ruby was earlier listed as the world’s sexiest politicians by Maxim magazine.

Dhalla has allegedly featured in intimate scenes with film's producer and co-star Charanjit Sihra in a movie titled 'Kyon Kis Liye'. The 2003 movie was shot at Hamilton, near Toronto and the story is based on is based on the local Sukhinder Dhillon murder case in which a wife was murdered by husband.
The movie 'Kyon Kis Liye' was shown earlier in Toronto and India. Now director is pushing it further via DVD distribution. Ruby Dhalla says that that she is not the one who has enacted those scenes. Rather, her face is put on someone's body for the scenes and is aimed at maligning her image. While Charanjit Sihra has another story to tell. He says that the scenes are not doctored in anyway and it is Ruby herself in the movie. Moreover, he says, Dhalla had herself given her consent in writing to the distribution of the film DVDs.

Meanwhile, Ruby claims to have issued notices to the producer, through her lawyers, to stop further distribution of DVDs using her using her name.

If the buzz is to be believed, the giant cellphone maker Nokia may soon enter in to the laptop market and if everything goes as planned you may soon get a Nokia laptop. The chief executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo said in an interview to Finnish national broadcaster YLE on Wednesday that Nokia is eyeing entering the laptop business.

"We are looking very actively also at this opportunity," said Nokia Chief Executive Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo. Kallasvuo's comment has come out as the official confirmation of the rumors about percolating in industry of Nokia's possible plan to enter the PC industry since late last year. He said that within a period of less than a year, we may see mobile phone and laptop converge.

"Today we have hundreds of millions of people who are having their first Internet experience on the phone. This is a good indication," he said.

Nokia's decision to make forays into laptop market may be a practical one as it already has a huge distribution and supply channel which it may use further for its new venture.

Samsung has launched its 8 MP touchscreen mobile phone Pixon M8800, the first of its kind in India. The main attraction of the phone is its camera which offers image resolution of 3264x2448 with auto-focus, face-recognition, Wide Dynamic Range, Advance Shake Reduction, GPS geo-tagging support, and WSVGA and VGA video recording at 30fps.

Motorola has launched its luxury cellphone Aura in India. Aura is the world's first mobile phone with 16 million color display capability. This handset was launched this month in US and UK. And now this sexy baby is in India in all its artistic glory. Motorola Aura was launched by its brand ambassador and Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan.

Its display is made from Grade 1 62-carat sapphire crystal which is one of the most scratch-resistant materials on earth.
